This “Tea with Lauriely” is different from most. This is the first official meeting that I have had with Edwina. A mutual friend of ours thought it would be a great idea for us to meet. We both have 3 boys and similar passions with our businesses. We like to help people and women especially. Edwina and I chatted for over an hour almost two and I have no doubt we could have continued. It was a lovely experience and I have once again had the pleasure of meeting an inspiring woman. So how does SHE do it??
As a busy Mum, how do you stay on top of housework? Do you have a particular day that you dedicate or do you try and some each day?
I have just recently got myself a house cleaner. I am a perfectionist and it would take up too much of my time. Now that I have a cleaner once a week, all I have to concentrate on is the washing etc. Allowing myself to enjoy the weekends. I also enjoy ironing once a week, as I watch a movie. This is the only time I allow to watch TV.
How do you manage juggling being a Mum and working?
I am lucky as I work from home. I do early mornings at the gym Gravity Fitness and they are my 6am Personal Training sessions. The boys are now older so it works well and fits in easily.
We all struggle with Mother’s guilt, what would be your advice to new Mums on how to cope with this and keep things in perspective?
In the early years I did. However, while they were young we lived close to family. Now that they are older it is easier and they more self- sufficient.
I am going away at the end of the month on a meditation retreat and
I don’t feel guilty.
What is your number one guilty pleasure or indulgence?
Meditation
What is something that most don’t know about you?
I used to be a tax accountant for 10 years.
Who do you admire?
I admire my clients and their commitment to make a change and turn their lives around.
What would you say is the best part of being a Mum?
The connection that I have on different levels with the kids. Guiding them and moulding them into young adults.
What would be the first advice you would give to a new Mum to be?
Relax, allow yourself to be natural. Don’t put your expectations up too high
I know we all try and aim for the perfect work/life balance, how do you keep it together emotionally most days?
I do meditation every day from 4.30/5.00 am for 30 – 60 mins
I notice if I don’t do this I find it difficult to hold it all together.
“If you can’t find half an hour to meditate each day
then you need to meditate for an hour”
